1. ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE KNOSSOS


Knossos is important to the center of the Minoan Civilization seat of King Minos. The site of Knossos palace connected with thrilling legends of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur and of Daedalus and Icarus. The site is accessed by about 20%.

Accessible path:

    You will pass north of the main entrance and directly from Knossos Avenue. The territory of the entrance is paved with non-smooth plates. Moderate to poor access mode. As we enter the main archaeological site, are constructed platforms with flooring synthetic turf. In some places the ground is dirt with incomplete parts cement.

South Propylaia:

    Accessible flush perimeter. The space in front of the murals has levels with stairs inaccessible.

Central courtyard:

    Accessible but the ground of dirt and gravel.

East Wing:

    Moderate accessible route is through ramps from the central courtyard with steep slopes interspersed with small steps and abnormal laneways.


TheNorth Entrance and the path that is completely inaccessible.

There is a specially designed WC which is locked. Good to get a phone before arriving to be sure that you will find your way to the open.

2. MUSEUM OF TRADITIONAL LIFE &

POPULAR CULTURE CRETE "LYCHNOSTATIS"




A museum worth visiting. The museum because of the many outdoor spaces, is open to visitors during the period from April 1 to October 31.

Access:

    The restaurant, cafe, outdoor spaces and exterior exhibits, botanical gardens are accessible but the ground in several places is not smooth and may need some help. The interiors are not accessible.

Visually impaired:

    report has been blind sculptor Peter Roukoutakis entitled "Fotera darkness" and a guide to writing Braille. Can palpation of exhibits by individuals sighted, (it is good to know before your visit). There is audio guide system for blind people.

3. MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY OF CRETE




The Natural History Museum of Crete operates within the University of Crete. It is an interesting museum, which is fully accessible indoors. For your entrance stairs there and intend to make entrance ramps.

For visually impaired:

    There are some toys and educational materials in the form of relief and games with sound.

Studies and other educational programs for different types of disability.

4. CretAquarium


A dive in the Mediterranean marine world awaits you at CretAquarium. A site worth visiting. All areas of the Aquarium is completely accessible to people with mobility problems. It has one special person vehicle parking with disabilities and 3 specially adapted WC.

The routes are very good standard. An organized tour auditory system in 5 languages. The Aquarium also works office with the necessary equipment.

5. MUNICIPAL ART GALLERY


The Municipal Art Gallery is housed in one of the most historic buildings in town. In the area occasionally hosts various events and exhibitions on a permanent basis (for now), displays works of Thomas Fanouraki, Georgios Georgiadis, Lefteris Kanakaki and Aristodemos Papadakis. It is accessible to people with disabilities. It has a special WC in the yard.
